Welcome to my Website, JWG Gallery. I hope that you have time to explore some of the Galleries.
I am based in the West of Scotland, near Troon and much of my work reflects the influence of the sea, islands and sunsets. (Not forgetting the Golf Courses!) I have a fascination of taking photographs of the changing views, scenes and tones of Arran.
I am also particularly fascinated by owls and birds of prey. These magnificent birds can be seen at Falconry centres as well as in the wild.
I am a freelance photographer. I am an enthusiastic traveller and seldom venture any place without a bag full of cameras and bits and pieces. Photography should also be fun!
I have a fascination with landscapes, sunsets and the way that light can quickly change the 'atmosphere' of a place.
I have won a few awards recently and a couple of my recent photos can be seen on the Calendar for the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
I have recently been commissioned to take photos of Theatre and Dance performances, both locally and at the Edinburgh International Festival. Check out the News section.

I am delighted to announce that I have had an exhibition of my photographs in the Gallery of the English Speaking Union in Edinburgh this Summer. The ESU Gallery is on Atholl Crescent near the Haymarket. The Indian General Consul to Scotland attended the exhibition which was entitled, 'Images of India', and captured the colours and vibrancy of the people of Rajasthan.
Whilst giving illustrated talks and presentations, I realise that there is always interest in photographs featuring people and 'off the wall' images of everyday life, situations and objects. I am always looking for the 'quirky' image which will elicit a positive reaction.
Let me know what you think of the Web site, and why not consider buying some of the images!? I would welcome comments on the photos you see on the Web. If you wish to visit the Gallery, please contact me in advance so that we can agree on a suitable time.
Under no circumstances should any of the images on my web site images be downloaded, organised, copied or reproduced unless you have my written permission. Pictures are available for purchase and will be at a higher resolution and quality than those shown in the portfolio.
Each month there will be different 'special offers'. For summer 2010, checkout the quality hand made cards. See the 'News ' section. For only £2.00 you get a real high quality card with a super photo (from one of my galleries) of your choice.
As we approach the summer of 2010 why not commission me to take some family photos? It costs less than you think. I do not have an expensive shop or office to maintain. My costs are lower than the High Street and the quality is high! Whilst I am happy to take photos in the comfort of your home, I find an increasing number of families want an 'action' photo based in a garden or local park. Check out some of these shoots in the 'family' gallery.
Vouchers are available, and photos make excellent presents for that friend or relative that has 'everything'!
