January 2012
The grey skies for much of this month meant that I did not take as many new photos as I had hoped. Still I am sure that February will be better.
December 2011
I was busy with a number of family photoshoots for the Christmas market. Particularly popular this year were outdoor shots at well known locations, such as Culzean and Rozelle.
Autumn 2011
I went to Croatia. This was my prize for winning a competition in the Times newspaper. (Travel section) Great country with some outstanding scenery. I was delighted to see the Ayrshire Hospice calendar out. I took 9 of the images used this year.
Managed to get away for a couple of overseas shoots to Iceland and Morroco.
Autumn 2011
Have been busy with family photoshoots and weddings. Managed to get up to Orkney. Wonderful light at this time of year. Met lots of people at the Ayr Flower Show again this year.
July 2011
During July and August I have 36 images on display at Crosshouse Hospital.
This is a busy month for family outdoor photoshoots.
I recently had a holiday in Egypt. relaxing down at Sharm. I took a very quirky photo of a camel resting beside a 'life guard' sign. The Times newspaper selected it as their travel photo of the month. (May 2011) My prize, a photo shoot/ workshop in Croatia.
Early summer
I will have 10 images in the 2011/2012 Ayrshire Hospice calendar. Please support our local Hospice and buy many copies of the calendar to sent to all your friends. The official launch will be at the Ayr Flower show in August. I shall have a stall there, so please come and talk with us.
Spring/ Summer 2011
I now have regular commission work in Iceland and Morocco. From the photography point of view both countries are spectacular. Iceland is such a raw landscape, very challenging to the photorapher. Glaciers, volcanoes, towering seas, dust storms, raging rivers, earthquakes... Iceland has the lot.
I was in Marrakesh recently during the suicide bomb attack. Scary. The country is usually so calm and peaceful. My travels take me over the mountains into the desert. Wonderful country with very friendly people.
January 2011
January found me taking some images in Iceland.
I must admit it provided me with some of the most awesome, raw images I have ever taken. The sheer physical landscape dominates life. It is a land of Volcanoes, Hot Springs, towering seas and cliffs, fissures, glaciers, raging rivers with waterfalls and volcanic fissures. I will be back later in February. At the moment it has become my number 1 country!
Winter 2010/ 2011
I was delighted to be able to take a number of outdoor family photoshoots during the cold and snowy weather. Some magnificent sunsets. But boy, was it cold and the camera actually froze a couple of times.
Travel time again. We travelled to Cuba for a couple of weeks during the coldest of the weather. An amazing island. Coral reefs, tropical forests and plenty of photo opportunities in old Havana. I've put a number of the new images in the web gallery. Some of my India photos have been featured in the gallery of Wanderlust, a well known travel magazine.
I managed to squeeze in a few craft shows in Prestwick Ayr, Dunlop and Troon
October 2010
Some really nice autumn colours this year.
I've had a number of family outdoor shoots (e.g. Dunure and Largs) I was tested with one shoot which had four adults, three children and 3 dogs! I've been away taking some photos over in Arran and have had an 'away day' (or two) with my friend Calum. We don't plan anything, we just go. We ended up at Machrahanish. I've also taken photos of Ayr United's mascot, 'Pandamonium', down at the Clik Sergeant home in Prestwick.
On Saturday the 23rd, I was at Somerset Park taking photos of the events going on.
September
I am delighted to have been asked to take all the photos for the 2012 Ayrshire Hospice Calender.
Managed to get to Paris for a couple of days. Some glorious late summer sun. A really a beautiful city. Had photos printed in the Telegraph and Times newspapers. Took some photos at the Park Hotel during the Help for Heroes event.
August 2010
Once again we had a stall at the Flower Show in Ayr. The weather, especially on Sat and Sunday, attacted many people to the craft tent. Thanks to all of you who chatted with us, said nice things about the photos and a special thanks to those who bought some of my images!
July 2010
The Craft Fair in Troon was especially busy for me. Following publicity, about the Exhibition in Edinburgh, there was a hugh hit surge on this web!
June 2010
I have had an exhibition of my 'Images of India' photographs in the Gallery of the English Speaking Union. I was delighted to be asked to hold an exhibition at this West End Gallery (Atholl Crescent, Edinburgh) I was thrilled that the Indian General Consul to Scotland, attended the opening viewing. The images capture the vibrancy and colours of the people of Rajasthan. The exhibition ran until 1st July. Hopefully there will be a chance to see the collection in the West of Scotland.
June 2010
Local Loans artist Robert Singer, held a 'happening' at his house and I was invited to take a series of images to record this thought provoking and challenging group of linked events. The theme was , 'Black and White.
April 2010
Making the most of some decent weather I rejoined the Youth Hostel Association of Scotland (no jokes please) and set off for the area around Ullapool. When the weather is good, this landscape is wonderful. I took many images. I was however really impressed when I visited the 'Gallery', in Ullapool. What marvellous photos on display.
April 2010
I have been across on Arran a couple of times this month taking photos, especially around Lochranza and the west coast of the island. The standing stones at Machrie were very 'moody'. I have been waiting to see how the cloud of volcanic dust has affected sunsets. So far nothing too unusual.
The fine April weather saw me down on the Mull of Galloway with my friend Calum.
I donated a 'family photoshoot' to be auctioned at a 'Butterly Ball, Charity event. I was delighted to note that the winning bid was £160.
March 2010
There have been some wonderful spring sunsets this month, with Arran looking most splendid in the evening. Goatfell has been covered in snow for several weeks.
Busy with a wedding and a couple of family outdoor photoshoots. (Down at Culzean and the Dean Park in Kilmanock)
I deleivered an illustrated talk for the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in Ayr. It featured my recent trip to India. I also gave a couple of talks to local groups on Egypt and the Taurus Mountains of Turkey
February 2010
Susan and I were travelling in India for three weeks. Although a holiday it was also an opportunity to mix leisure with business. Susan is a clinical hypnotherapist and life and business coach.
Rajastan in North West India is a glorious colourful region. Over the next few weeks I shall add some of the images to this Web. I took photos of many famous places. The Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, the Amber Fort, the Palace of Rats(!) and the beautiful cities of the Golden Triangle. We were travelling with a great group of people and a skilled and inspirational leader (Sumeet). I concentrated on taking images of local people going about their life. x
Jan 2010
Looking forward to the new year and taking more photographs. Best wishes for a great year.
December 2009
Whilst November was very wet and not a great month for outdoor photos, December was really special with some wonderful sunsets looking over the Clyde.
Christmas! For some, the best time of the year. An increasing number of people seem to be giving a photograph or a voucher as a present. A photo is perfect for many situations. Why not commission a family photo for parents/ grandparents? Think of that friend or relative now living away from this area. A landscape of the coast with Arran or Ailsa Craig would be a wonderful memory of days gone by. Give us a call at 07779005675 or 01563528801 and we can discuss your needs in more detail.
We were ar the Hospice event at the racecourse, Ayr on Saturday 21st November, and back in Troon on Saturday 5th December.
During the year we donated a couple of 'photoshoots' for charity auctions. These attracted some real interest and two local families had their photos taken in outdoor settings. These are now so popular and the best way to show a family having fun together.
November
I have been working with Robert Singer, a conceptual artist, based near Loans. His house has a wonderful Gallery space. His exhibition can be viewed. Give him a call.
22nd and 23rd August
We were at 'Nurseries Direct', Stair, on these two days displaying some of our landscape images. The Galloway Falconry Centre were showing some of their magnificent birds of prey. We have a range of falcons and owls in the range. 'Grace' the falcon and 'Leah 'the European Eagle Owl, remain amongst the most popular images we have.
7th to 9th August 2009
We were at the Ayr Flower Show between the 7th and 9th August. I have been busy updating my flower portfoliio this spring and summer and hope that you will enjoy the results.

August 2008
I was asked by the English Speaking Union(ESU) to take a photographic record of the World Members' Conference. This was a large event, with many formal and social events. A highlight for the members (but an exhausting part for me!) was the presence of the Duke of Edinburgh and 300 members wanted their photo taken with him!
JWG Gallery photos have been used for display on their web, and on publicity boards.

I was commissioned to take photos of the final Festival Firework show.
